Telephones and TTYs at No Charge!

Must be Deaf or Hard of Hearing Florida resident

 

Assistive Listening Devices - DHHS serves as a resource for Northwest Florida organizations and churches for the loan and sale of assistive listening devices. This equipment can be loaned for up to 30 days, and purchased in the office.

 

Regional Distribution Center for FTRI – Amplified Telephones and TTY/TDDs are available at No Charge to any Florida resident who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing. DHHS is a regional distribution center for Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc (FTRI).  FTRI provides specialized telecommunications equipment to all Florida residents who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Speech Impaired or Deaf/Blind at No Charge. Funding for this program comes from a surcharge on every residential telephone line in the state of Florida.

 

Hearing Aid Recycling – Working with local chapters of the Sertoma Club, DHHS ensures that donated hearing aids are recycled and made available to the Hard of Hearing community at a reduced expense.

 

Affordable Technology – Other specialized equipment available for any Deaf or Hard of Hearing person includes visual (flashing) or tactile (vibrating) alarm clocks, alarm systems, doorbells, pagers, and wristwatches. Also, TV Ears for the television and Pocket Talker Pro are two types of amplifying devices for the Hard of Hearing. DHHS will find the equipment that best fits the need of any client.
